North Carolina is second in the nation in the number of bid rigging cases being investigated by the U. S. Justice Department. Tennessee headed the list with 44, followed by North Carolina with 38. The Tryon Concert Association will present Mac Frampton and Marco Valenti Tuesday at the Fine Arts Center. Tonight at 7:30 the Tryon Town Council will meet at the Town Hall. Tonight at 7:30 the Polk County School Board meets in the courthouse annex. The Pastor’s Aid Club of the Garrison Chapel Baptist Church will hold a luncheon on Thursday in the Church Fellowship Hall at 12:30 p.m. Miss Selina Lewis, will be the guest speaker. Russell Walker of Randolph County has announced that Precinct meetings are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11th at the traditional polling place. An assembly of ten Democrats who are registered voters in a precinct constitute a quorum. No change in the place or time of the meetings may be made without previous advertising in local icwspapers and on local radio. The common aganda provides For the election of officers to fill any vacancies that have occurred on precinct committees since the 1981 organizational meetings. The county conventions will be held April 3rd, district conventions on May 15th and the State Convention on June 12th. T Ball Coaches Meeting A T Ball meeting for all those interested in coaching in the Polk County T Ball League will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Department in Columbus. Anyone desiring to help coach, but unable to attend should contact the Recreation Department at 894-8199.
